Swimming Lessons

Swimming lessons began today! For the next two weeks, we'll be buried under piles of wet swimsuits, towels, googles, etc. My nervous Nellie (aka Anika) did GREAT! We arrived, found her teacher, got her swim fins & kickboard, and I didn't have to worry about her again. She LOVED her teacher, Alex. She has 3 others in her class. Today she hung on to the wall, blew bubbles, learned to hold on to/kick with the board, and backfloat. Here is a picture from the phone. Now to the bad news. . . Andrew (who wasn't scared at all initially) went into total panic mode. He was screaming and crying. He wanted to be able to do the kickboard, but he didn't want to stay in the pool and hold the side. Sigh! We are going to try it one more day and then we might need to wait until next year. It is such a disappointment because he did fabulous swimming at a friend's pool on Sat. wearing just his little floatie vest, he was jumping in and swimming all around w/o me. This pool is big, cold and the edge is way above his head, so I think he has some fears to overcome.
