Giants vs. Cubs 2012

Wow!  What an amazing day in San Fran we had yesterday.  We were able to take the older kids to their first MLB game at AT&T Park.  We saw our beloved Cubbies lose in a surprisingly exciting finish.  Our day started with an early afternoon departure into th city.  After wandering around the ballpark, catching the sights, and admiring the cove, we ate at Amici's East Coast Pizza.  (Nothing like eating New York style pizza, showing our support for our Chicago team in the city by the bay!!!)  Then we headed into the park as soon as it opened so that we could catch batting practice.  With infinite patience (on the part of some), we waited for a ball.  And we were rewarded!!!  Both the kids got balls from batting practice.  The game was more exciting for Mom and Dad than the kiddos but they did a great job staying engaged.  After being down 0-4 almost the whole game, the Cubbies rallied in the ninth with a 3 run homer by Soriano.  Whew!  What an exciting finish - and "the best day ever" according to Andrew.

At Amici's anxiously awaiting the ball game!

At batting practice!

Trying out the Coca-Cola slide. Verdict: AWESOME!

Hoping for more balls as the bullpen warmed up right in front of us.

Rewarded! Two more balls from the Cubs pitching coach
(It helps to be small, cute, and wearing Cubbie blue!)

I had to grab this shot at the end of the game -- this is the post party in full swing.  This non-ticket holders come out in droves to clean out the stadium.  It was incredible to me that the moment the players left the field a HUGE flock of seagulls began circling the seats.
