Old Town Sacramento

After our time at the R/R museum, we walked the streets of Old Town, dropped in at the one room school house, took in the views along the water front, and enjoyed an ice cream cone. Great day!!!

All tuckered out!

California State Railroad Museum

After we met our Sunnyside friends Chad & Linda Werkhoven in Sacramento for an early lunch, we decided to make a day of it. We visited the CA State Railroad Museum. It was so neat. Despite the look on her face, Anika enjoyed it as did Drew and even Kathryn.

This is the kitchen in a dining car during the "golden age" of the railroads around 1920-1950.

This gentleman showed us the Pullman sleeper car. So cool!
We spent plenty of time in the Thomas the train and model train section. (For the kids and the "big" kid:-))

Watching the trains go by from the bubble under the table.

Lloyd and I loved the railroad photography. This was an award winner from Germany.

It's Official!

At one year, one week, and one day, Kathryn took her first steps. She isn't choosing it as her preferred mode of transport yet but they were certainly her first steps:-)

The play-by-play:

She overcompensated and landed on her back:

Babysitters?

Go, Cubs, Go

Although we're a west coast family now (and our kids have never even lived near Chicago), we've maintained our affinity for the Chicago Cubs. My kids go around the house singing "Go, Cubs, Go; Go, Cubs, Go. Hey, Chicago, waddaya say, Cubs are gonna WIN TODAY!" (Well, since we haven't been hearing it much in the "friendly confines" we'll have to make do in our house:-() Lloyd got this Cubs jersery from his friend, Dusty, so we were hoping the Cubs would catch the good vibe. . .

Kathryn's Cake

I had fun making a cupcake "cake" for Kathryn. We enjoyed some company on Sat. so we celebrated Kathryn's birthday with cake and singing!
"K" for Kathryn:-)

Mini-Golf outing

Our family enjoyed a Funworks day on Lloyd's day off. We went mini-golfing! It was a lot of fun except that at about the 14 hole we started hearing, "Can we go on the go-carts?" "Can we go on the boats?" "Can we go over there?" The grass is always green. . . After golfing we walked through the video game area. Our kids are still young enough that they don't know whether they are really playing the game or not:-)

Birthday Girl

Kathryn turned one on May 20th! Happy Birthday to you. . . She heard it about 100 times from Anika and Andrew, but it didn't mean much to her. We are going to celebrate more this weekend, but for her special day we had a Monkey bread breakfast, had a playdate with our neighbor boy, enjoyed the youth group lasagna supper at church, and ended the day with mom & dad finishing up the Financial Peace U. class at church. (The kids loved staying in the nursery with all of their friends until 8:30!!!! They all slept in this morning:-)

Kathryn LOVED the monkey bread (even as she hesitates here):

"I'm ONE!!!!"

Kids!
