Seattle Trip

While Lloyd's parents were here, we took a drive to Seattle. We enjoyed a harbor cruise, strolled through Pike's Market, and had a wonderful dinner out. It was a great day and the kids did better than I expected considering we dragged them all over and nap time was optional:-) It ended up being a beautiful day weatherwise. Overcast at times but no rain to speak of. What a fun day together!
A few California sea lions graced us with a "National Geographic" moment as they sunned themselves while we passed them during our harbor cruise.

Nana & Anika enjoy the sites and the boat ride. We all got a bit windblown and the breeze was chilly out on the water but it was a fun trip.

Papa & Kiddos

Anika enjoyed having her Papa around. Papa got the AJ wake up call each morning as well as hearing "What doing, Papa?" or "Where you going?" She had to keep tabs on everyone. She also enjoyed snuggling on the couch morning and night.

Nana & Kiddos

Lloyd's parents were just here for a visit. We had a wonderful time together. It went fast as usual, but we fit a lot in. Anika monopolized most of Nana's time. Anika woke her up each morning, talked to her ALL day long, and hardly left her side. She went through Nana's purse about a thousand times looking for lotion, "lipsticks", and of course, candy.

Chopsticks

I was making stir-fry last night and decided to have some fun with my table setting so I broke out the place mats and chopsticks that my friend, Deb, brought back from SE Asia. Anika had such fun trying to manipulate these new tools. (I don't think she would have eaten anything if Dana hadn't given her bites from her chopsticks.)

Looped Braids

My mom used to do my hair this way all the time. Now it is my daughter's turn.

Oo-la-la

My aunts brought me some of my Grandma Boeck's jewelry (mostly clip on earrings and costume stuff) last spring when they visited. Anika is getting into the whole dress-up scene with the dangling earrings and necklaces. Add what Daddy brought back from the DR and this little girl is set! Tonight I heard, "Mommy, let's play jewelries" and I knew I would be swapping clip-ons for half-an-hour. Do most two-year-olds accessorize? (I'm not sure the appropriate adornment for pizza sauce and a stained shirt but we sure had fun.)

Fun with Cereal

Daddy makes everyday a fun day! Even eating breakfast is more fun when daddy's around:-)

Smiling Kids

He-Man

Andrew is quite frustrated these days because he can't get his body to cooperate. He is so close to crawling -- he has the strength; he just hasn't figured out the alternate arm/leg routine.

Molly Dolly

Anika just rediscovered this doll from Aunt Lanah. She has been playing with her all morning. Today they are ice skating. (For never having been ice skating, Anika seems to do a fair job of pretending!)

A Girl's Best Friend

After Anika helped Daddy give Scout her bath, everyone was a little bit tired out. Anika went nose to nose with Scout as the rested on the floor.

Playing Piano

Anika actually (happily) shared the piano with Andrew this morning. It was so precious to watch them together. Andrew was amazed at the sounds the came from his hands when he slammed them down on the keys. (I had to take these pictures quickly because I wasn't sure that Andrew wouldn't slide off the bench and Anika wasn't the best at holding on to him.)

Applesauce:-)

Anika has been immersed in apples recently. She has helped me and our friend, Diane, make applesauce so she is well versed in the ins and outs. Here she has her pots boiling on the stove as she fills her pans at the table. You might also be able to make out the "garbage can" that she has placed at her feet to dispose of the peels & waste. (If imitation is an art form, Anika is a master!)
Note: The "garbage can" at her feet.

Bathing Beauties

Anika is such a little mother. I usually give Andrew his bath before she gets up in the morning but this morning she was awake so she had to get involved -- fully:-) Andrew loved the attention. She put soap on the washcloth and washed him up and then helped me shampoo his hair. (She had to rub his head and scratch a little just like mommy does.)
